Quick disclosure: this site earns a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you.
Most product review sites will tell you they “tested” dozens of products. We think you deserve the truth about what that means on a small, independent site like this one.
The honest limitation
We have not bought and lab-tested every grounding product we write about. Properly testing dozens of mats — sleeping on each for weeks, measuring conductivity over time with calibrated equipment — would be the gold standard, and we’re a small site. Anyone who claims otherwise on our budget is selling you something.
So we do the next-best honest thing: we evaluate every product against the same five criteria, using the manufacturer’s published specs, warranty terms, and what the peer-reviewed grounding research actually says. Same tests, same questions, every product — and we tell you exactly what those tests are.
The five criteria
- Conductivity you can verify. A grounding product is only as good as its connection to the Earth. We check whether the kit includes a way to confirm it’s actually conducting — a product tester or outlet checker — and whether the manufacturer publishes real conductivity details (carbon content, silver-thread percentage, or resistance values) instead of vague claims.
- Materials and durability. Carbon-infused mats wipe down and hold up; silver-threaded fabrics need gentle washing and lose conductivity over time. We look at the stated materials and any durability claims, so you know what you’re maintaining before you buy.
- Warranty. A company that backs a grounding product for one to five years is telling you something about its expected lifespan. We compare stated warranties side by side.
- True yearly cost. A $200 mat that lasts five years costs less per grounded night than a $90 sheet that wears out in one. We divide the price by the expected lifespan.
- Setup completeness. A mat without a cord, an outlet checker, or clear instructions is an unfinished product. We check the kit includes everything you need to actually get grounded — no hidden extras required.
What we don’t do
We don’t crown a fake “winner” to drive clicks. We don’t recommend products from brands we can’t verify. And we don’t pretend our rankings came from a lab when they came from spec sheets and research.
Everything we recommend comes from earthing.com (Clint Ober’s company, behind much of the published earthing research) or Groundology (the UK brand known for its grounding sheets) — the two brands with the longest track record in the published grounding research. If that ever changes, this page will say so.
What would change this
If we ever get our hands on the products for real-world testing — say, a multimeter conductivity check with photos — we’ll add a “What we tested ourselves” section right here and date it. Until then, what you see is exactly what we did: honest desk research, applied consistently.
Where this applies
This methodology is what stands behind every product comparison on this site, including our best grounding mats and grounding sheets vs. mats guides. If a product page doesn’t link back here, that’s an oversight — tell us and we’ll fix it.
